I found out some interesting things about my color of choice today... This information seems to come from a somewhat unscientific sampling of people for a research project.
Some interesting facts based on this survey:
1) Orange is the least favorite color overall, but men dislike brown more than orange
2) Only 5% of people consider Orange their favorite color (both men & women)
3) Orange is more popular with young people than with older people
4) Orange is the color most associated with "fun."
This research paper references a book by Faber Birren - Color Psychology and Color Therapy. This book states that the adjectives people associate most with orange include: bright, luminous, glowing, warm, metallic, autumnal, jovial, lively, energetic, hilarity and exuberance. "
The author of the research noted that these are positive traits, and hypothesized that the reason many people dislike the color was simply for stylistic reasons. Apparently it just isn't an "in" color.
